Zainunnissa "Cissie" Gool was the daughter of Dr Abdullah Abdurahman. She was the first non-white woman to complete a MA degree in Psychology and also the first non-white woman to practise law in South Africa, which she did in 1963 at 63 years of age. She was also the only non-white woman to sit on the Cape Town City Council before 1994, and also helped to form the Non-European United Front. There is an Avenue named after Cissie Gool in Rylands.
