IRFSA runs a humble Shelter for Abused Women with Young Children near Athlone, Cape Town. The Shelter offers many services geared towards a resident's speedy recovery, improved self-respect and confidence; and offers a clean, decent and loving environment with sheltering from 24-hours to 6-months. IRFSA receives no government or corporate funding, and graciously survives on public donations,selling organically grown herbs and vegetables, running a small laundry service and from the same of 2nd-hand items from their on-site community shop. Since inception in February 2006, IRFSA assisted, clothed, counselled, fed and sheltered 452 clients of all cultures and religions (213 Women and 261 young children, aged 6-weeks to 20-years), as well as an additional 164 non-resident clients. Clients arrive on a daily basis! IRFSA renders a vital community service and must continue for the benefit of the community. We welcome your much-needed financial and/or in-kind support to assist us in rendering the Shelter clientele with an excellent service. Your regular contribution of R50+ per month will make a huge difference in the lives of these underprivileged Victims of Domestic Violence.
