According to the NGO, What-On-Earth-Is-Happening (WOE-H), the Black river which runs through parts of the Cape Flats is so polluted that it could even catch fire.


"High levels of E.Coli and phosphorus are turning the Black River into a methane gas producing swamp," the group said in a statement. They further stated that rivers in other parts of the world with similarly high levels of pollution had already caught fire.
