The State has concluded its case against Najwa Petersen and her co-accused, for the murder of popular music icon (and then-husband of the accused) Taliep Petersen.

The State alleged that Najwa Petersen, along with her co-accused, murdered Taliep Petersen in his Athlone home on 16th December 2006.

A dramatic moment in the hearings occurred when State-witness Fahiem Hendricks, said he wanted to change his plea to "Guilty". He also handed over a statement that said he was recruited to commit the crime.

Among the witnesses, was Peter Schmitz, a geospatial researcher from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Schmitz used detailed maps to shed light on the cellular phone calls made by the accused and co-accused in the few days prior to the killing.

The Cape High Court judge, Siraj Desai has postponed hearings until next week to allow the defence teams time to prepare.
