The City of Cape Town has urged residents of the Langa area to close taps that were opened during todays water supply cut. The water supply was stopped to the area to enable a large new development to be connected to the main water supply line.

Water supply to the area will be stopped from 10am to 4pm today to enable technicians to connect the new development to be connected to the pipeline. Residents were advised to store enough water to see them through the six hour period.

In a statement, the City said: "If a tap is left open and no one is at home when the supply is restored, wastage will occur and you will be billed for this."

A temporary discolouration of the water may occur once the water supply is reconnected.
