They say a change is a as good as a holiday, change is inevitable and that change is constant.
I believe that circumstances can change the way you think, the way you act and even the way people perceive you to be.
Sometimes a simple event can change your entire life. Last week the event was the Hajj quota announcement, among other things.
I guess sometimes things change for the better, even though at the time it may not seem so.
A while ago something happened to a friend of mine and I think it changed his life forever. I thought of publishing this poem I wrote him ages ago, but at the time it did not seem appropriate.
So today, reading this poem (and maybe he will too), I hope on the day when things changed for him, they took a turn for the better. After all, I have always believed in the theory that things have to get worse before they can become better.
THE DAY I WOKE UP
Today I woke up in a bit of distress
Today I woke up at home filled with stress
Today I woke up but what could I do?
Today I woke up but where were you?
They say you did it It was all your fault
They say you snapped Like a worn-out bolt.
You should've known better That's what they all say
They should've listened to you Long before that fateful day
They laughed and joked at your distress
They treated you like garbage After you'd given them your best
I don't doubt your loyalty to the blue
I know the one who snapped can't be you
I guess its the demon You've fought for so long
Over the years he may have weakened But yesterday, maybe he was strong
Today your daughter didn't see her dad
Today you can't be the good chasing the bad
Today I woke up and you're in pain
Today I hope your quest won't be in vain.
