Cape advocate, Motlatsi Pitlele was found guilty of contempt of court in the Cape High Court by Judge President John Hlophe as a result of being about an hour late for his court case yesterday.

Pitlele, who was due to appear in court for a murder trial, explained that he was delayed because he was at the Wynberg Court to make arrangements in connection with another case.

As a result of the infringement, Hlophe requested the court orderly to ensure that Pitlele remained in court until 16:00 - effectively giving him "detention" of approximately 3-hours.
