As part of the City's massive construction projects, most of which are scheduled to be completed before 2010, Klipfontein Road is set to receive an investment of R190 Million for upgrades.

Klipfontein Road, which runs from Gugulethu, through Athlone, and into Mowbray is set to become the spine of public transportation in the area, with plans to include permanent bus and bicycle lanes along Klipfontein Road.

Commuters will then be able to use the rapid transit buses along the dedicated lanes on this route.
